A British WW2 surrender bring back from when the British took the surrender of Japanese troops in French Indochina and then helped the French regain control (bizarrely with the help of Japanese troops). The scabbard has a 6 leaf white lilly (Vietnam) while the guard has a symbol which appears to be Cambodian in origin.

The 24 5/16 inch curved blade clearly of French influence with its narrow second fuller, though this blade was not made in France, is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel and tropical hardwood hilt / grip very interesting and in good condition (one semi-circular crack to one segment of the grip). The leather and steel fittings scabbard aged but good, some cracking to the leather but not too much. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A rare sword that you are unlikely to another to buy at any price. Yours for only £400. Please quote item reference S86. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0700-1m (1.329)
