Rare Georgian British Honourable Artillery Company Officer's Sword

Sales enquiries

A very rare early version of the HAC pattern sword. The blade dates it to around 1810/1820. The open hilt is very unusual, perhaps the original standard. The grip is bone; it has been heat tested as part of our due diligence. This is pre-silver flaming bomb attachment to the hilt (it never had one).

The 30 7/8 inch blade is in aged (patina, inert rust spots) age but is good and firm in the hilt. The hilt remarkably good given it is brass. Bone grip in good order. Scabbard (possibly later replacement) has lost its metals fittings and the stitching has come apart most likely from age shrinkage. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A rare sword in well above average condition. You can have it for £500. Please quote item reference R78. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0557-1m (1.415).
