Georgian (William IV) British Senior Infantry
Officer's Sword, For Sale
In good overall condition, a scarce 1822P Georgian (William IV
- 1830 to 1837) British Senior Infantry Officer's Pipe-Back Sword.
The brass scabbard indicates this sword was for a senior / staff
officer (Adjutant) of the British infantry.
The 32 1/4 inch blade has good tablet etching still visible; it
also has quite a few nicks to the cutting edge (maybe period, as
there is age to some visible). Blade firm in hilt. The hilt good,
a little distortion (not much) with the folding guard section working.
Fishskin and twisted grip wire bindings good for age. The brass
scabbard mostly good but has lost a throat screw, so the throat
is loose. The scabbard has also lost its internal wood slats, so
the sword does sheath and draw loosely.
