WW1 1908 Pattern Camouflaged British Cavalry
Trooper's Sword, for sale
In very good condition, a WW1 1908 Pattern Camouflaged British
Cavalry Trooper's Sword.
This is some sword, even the blade has been chemically blackened.
The khaki brown guard appears to have been period over-painted black.
The scabbard apparently has that black over khaki. What makes this
sword even more interesting, is that there is no date acceptance
stamp. With the various camouflage layers, no regimental or other
markings are visible on the hilt / guard or scabbard; we certainly
don't want to remove the camouflage to see if anything is there.
Made by / marked on the blade to SB&N Ltd (Sanderson Brothers
& Neubold Limited), there is one inspection mark, so it is not
a private purchase / one sold to another country.
The 35 inch blade has been chemically blackened and in very good
condition, plus firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is very good.
The grip with some age but good. The steel scabbard in good condition.
The sword sheathes and draws very well.
This is a beauty of a sword and intriguing at the same time. Snap
it up! £600. Please quote item reference Q95. Further / full
sized images available upon request. Box 0442-1.18 (3.227).
