William IV = 1830 to 1837. This sabre has very feint etching now; the maker's name is too feint to determine.

The 34 1/2 inch blade is in good condition, the etching a bit feint, some rust spots, but overall good. Blade firm in the hilt. The early 1821P wide flared hilt / guard (note, there is no inner guard section and it looks like there never was; a bespoke sword made to the officer's specification within the limits of the official British pattern) is in good order, some slight damage, some light pitting. The fishskin grip is good overall, twisted grip wire still present. The steel scabbard has some age (dings, light rust) but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A really good sword, a little bespoke, superb quill point pipe-back blade, wide flared guard bars. Yours, take it, just £550. Please quote item reference Q88. Box 0429-1.18 (2.207).
