Victorian Mk 1 Scottish Highland Light Infantry
Piper's Dirk, Sold
In very good condition, a rare late Victorian Mk 1 Scottish Highland
Light Infantry Piper's Dirk by Wilkinson Sword.
The 11 3/4 inch blade is superbly etched for the entire length,
both sides. As well as the logo of the Highland Light Infantry it
has their battle honours up to and including Tel-el-Kebir (1882),
so pre-Boer War battle honours, so there is a very good chance this
dirk was worn by a piper piping the HLI into battle in the Boer
War. Blade has some patina splotches towards the point. Blade firm
in hilt. The hilt with the Queen's crown to the pommel and all the
silver metal studs in place. The sheath with some age. The dirk
sheathes and draws well.
These Mk1 fully etched with regimental motif bladed dirks are very
rare. This one can be yours for £1000. Please quote reference
number Q17 (0332). Further / full sized images available upon request.
