French 1822 Model Cavalry of the Line trooper's
sabre / sword, sold |
In very good condition a French 1822 Model Cavalry of the Line
Sword / Sabre, Châtellerault, dated May 1832.
A near perfect example (the top strand of grip wire is missing)
of this famous and iconic cavalry sword / sabre, complete with a
couple of period nicks that indicate this was used, perhaps in the
French
conquest of Algeria.
The very impressive 38 1/4 inch slightly curved period sharpened
blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt and grip
all good (slight scuff to one bit of grip leather, top most twisted
grip wire twist missing). Browned steel scabbard in good shape.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
A superb example of a scarce sabre. Please quote item reference
N57 (1316). Further / full sized images available upon request.
