WW2 Japanese Navy Officer's Kai Gunto Sword,
sold |
In overall good to very good condition, a scarce World War 2 Imperial
Japanese navy officer's kai gunto sword.
A late war unsigned kai gunto, complete with officer's sword tassel,
which means the sword was taken from an officer rather than it being
surrendered after Japan capitulated.
A good sword! OK, it is not Gendaito, but it is still a scarce
sword as most WW2 Japanese naval swords ended up at the bottom of
the sea. The 25 3/4 inch (nagasa / point to habaki) blade with straight
hamon is very good overall condition; unsigned tang but with anchor
Imperial acceptance stamp. No rayskin (hence we know it is late
war), but everything in pretty good shape. Sword sheathes and draws
well.
Come on, a WW2 Imperial Japanese naval officer's kai gunto in
good condition and with sword not / tassel for only £? We
must be mad! Please quote item reference number K24. Further / full
sized images available upon request.
