Sold Item Notice

For details on the officer, J K H Freeman, please see his sword details here. We were very lucky to get both his WW2 dirk (here) and sword. This was one very luck officer (again, see details on associated sword page).

In very good condition. The 18 inch blade is excellent one side, some light patina spots the other, firm in the hilt. The hilt is in very good condition. The fishskin grip and twisted grip wore bindings very good; some staining from the all weather cover one side which would clean with careful attention. The dirk knot in good order. The leather and gilt metal scabbard good; the locking pin mechanism works well and locates properly into the hilt. The all weather bag in good though a little aged condition. Belts, epauletts, etc all good if a little aged; it is quite evocative to realize the epaulettes, etc. and probably even the dirk saw active service on several famous Royal Navy warships.

These dirks are scarce, much scarcer than officer's swords, so they are at a price premium to swords. Please quote item reference K03 (1154). Further / full sized images available upon request.
