1892 Patt English Household Cavalry Life
Guards Trooper's Sword, sold |
In very good condition, an English Household cavalry trooper's
sword marked to the Life Guards, complete with steel scabbard, white
leather hilt liner and sword knot.
One of the best 1892 pattern household cavalry trooper swords you
can hope to find. Dated 1947 with "L86" to the scabbard.
Almost certainly therefore this sword was present at the state funeral
of King George VI and also the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The 34 1/2 inch plain fullered blade is in very good condition,
with various acceptance etc. marks, and is firm in the hilt. The
plated steel hilt is in very good condition, the fishskin grip is
worn as to be expected, the twisted grip wire bindings are all present
and correct. The leather hilt liner and knot a little dry and aged,
but basically very good. The scabbard in very good condition. The
sword sheathes and draws very well.
What a lovely sword and display piece. Full sized / additional
photos available upon request. Please quote item reference number
