Early Victorian Pipeback British Light Cavalry
Officers Sabre, for sale
In good condition, a Early Victorian 1821P Pipeback British Light
Cavalry Officers Sword / Sabre.
The early Victorian "tablet" etching feint but visible,
this is the iconic 1821P light cavalry officer's sword at its most
The 32 3/16 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The hilt with patina / light inert rust pitting and some original
browning indicating it was for a regular cavalry (not reserve /
yeomanry) officer. The hilt / guard with lovely flared bars (nice
to look at, not so good for thrust defense). Remains of original
field leather knot. Fishskin grip good, as are the twisted grip
wire bindings. Browned steel scabbard has some patina but is in
very good shape. The sword sheathes and draws very well, nicely
firm when fully sheathed.
A really good and above average sword. One of the best buys you
can make £550. Please quote item reference AE32. Further /
full sized images available upon request. Box 0785-1m (1.815).
