Victorian British Royal Naval Officers' Sword,
In good to very condition for its age, a Victorian British Royal
Naval Officers' Sword by Kenning of London, Liverpool & Glasgow.
Post 1874 (Kenning opened in Glasgow that year), pre 1902 (when
Queen Victoria died). George Kenning was a reputable sword cutler
(so the blade was not made by his firm, rather it was hilted by
The 31 3/4 inch blade is in generally good condition and firm in
the hilt. The brass hilt with folding guard section in good order.
The fishskin grip good but some flaking of the white lacquering.
Twisted grip wire is good but a couple of lesser strands slightly
astray. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is good but with
a couple of kinks / folds. The sword sheathes and draws well; the
folding guard locks onto the retaining pin of the scabbard. Complete
with original sword knot in aged but good condition.
