The etching is very feint, but the GR Georgian cypher, British Royal Coat of Arms and the original owner's initials "R C M" are still visible on the blade. Time on your hands? Research the late 18C British Army Lists!

The 32 inch blade has the remnants of the etching still visible. Blade firm in the hilt / grip but the hilt has some looseness. The scarce "cigar band" ivory grip, normally associated with naval officer's swords (though this one is not, it is an infantry officer's sword) is overall good but has some age damage one side near the cigar band. The modern replacement scabbard is just that. The sword sheathes and draws well.

Very nice above average example. A good investment at £600. Please quote item reference AD12. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 0422-1m (1.326).
