With plenty of blue and gilt etching remaining, the sword blade has a pre-1801 British Royal Coat of Arms, plus the sword has a steel (not leather) scabbard, so was obviously also intended for mounted use.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition, minimal patina, but the blue and gilt etch is worn / aged (one side particularly). Blade firm in hilt but shell guard is a little loose. Twisted silver metal grip is in good condition. The steel scabbard very good for age. The sword sheathes and draws well.

What a spectacular sword and who knows what exploits the original owner / officer saw / was involved in. Available for £1200. Please quote item reference AC65. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 0325-1.18 (2.109).
