WW2 Fairbairn-Sykes F-S Fighting Knife 2nd
Pattern for sale.
With WW2 Norwegian theatre provenance, a Fairbairn-Sykes F-S Fighting
Knife 2nd Pattern, Norway Provenance
Bought by me from the grandson of Royal Marine commando who served
in the Norwegian theatre during WW2. The grandson said his grandfather
claimed the reshaped, reground tip was to allow easier penetration
into German helmets, but that account was told with a wry smile.
The grandson, who is in the British defense industry, said he believed
the tip was reground to allow it to open tins of food, that the
knife had to serve many purposes. In any event, it clearly has seen
action of one kind or another, and has the V forte which denotes
a hand ground blade. Blade 13.7 cm and still sharp. Stamped broad
arrow with B@ to the cross guard. Sheath very aged / worn with period
replacement of former elastic strap. A superb bargain at only £350.
