1908 Pattern British Cavalry Trooper's Sword
by Wilkinson (Sold) |
Very good condition 1908P cavalry trooper's sword by Wilkinson,
dated 1915.
A really lovely example of this fine cavalry sword. Well marked
(inspection, etc. marks), plus of course the Wilkinson name.
Made in August 1915 during World War 1, this sword shows no sign
of dark camouflage paint and is marked to a yeomanry (reserve) cavalry
unit, so that would explain its well above average condition. A
little pit of old pitting on the scabbard evident, which has been
cleaned over, but other than that an almost pristine item.
The 35 inch blade is excellent condition and firm in the hilt.
The hilt very good and clean. The composite grip with very little
wear. Sheathes well and the scabbard good. Matching marks for the
Gloucestershire Yeomanry on both sword and scabbard. Further / full
sized pictures available upon request. Item Ref: 671 (276)
