Sold Item Notice

Take note, this is both a WW2 militaria and Japanese nihonto blade collectors dream. A senior Japanese army officer's shin gunto complete with sword knot / tassel (which means this sword was taken from an individual officer, it is not a so-called surrender sword) with an early Edo blade by master bladesmith Fujiwara Kanemasa.

In overall very good condition with superb hamon, thought the blade does have some small rust patches, some marks and one small chink to the cutting edge. The sword comes complete with sword knot / tassel (brown and red for a senior field officer; Major, Lieutenant-Colonel or Colonel), metal scabbard (repainted) plus full set of seppa. The impressive 56.4 cm blade could be polished and remounted or left as it is in military mounts; personally, I would leave it as it is.
