Scarce Pipe Back Swiss 1899M Cavalry Sabre (sold)

In good condition, the blade in exceptional condition, a pipe-back Swiss 1899 model cavalry sabre.

These sabres are, for me, the most effective and aesthetic cavalry swords ever made; light, strong, full guard hand protection, special grip and superb hilt scrolling. This sabres is even more desirable as a) it has the earlier pipe-back, quill point blade, and b) the blade is in exceptional condition.

81 cm plain blade firm in the hilt. The hilt with some rust. The fishskin grip in good order, as are the ring bindings (twisted grip wire), though one turn a little loose. The leather finger grip from inside the hilt is gone, the scabbard with some rust areas. But overall a good example and one you do not see very often on the market.
