1821P Victorian British Light Cavalry Officer's
Pipeback Sword, For Sale
In good condition, an 1821P Victorian British Light Cavalry Officer's
Pipeback Sword by Hamburger.
This is an officer's campaign sword; no nonsense, not for dress,
period sharpened. It has Queen Victoria's cypher to the blade, so
1838 to 1845 (when the new fullered blade was introduced), though
probably kept by the officer for some time after. As it was sharpened,
it perhaps saw service during the First
Afghan War, Sikh Wars or even Crimean War.
The 33 7/8 inch blade is in very good condition with the tablet
form etching still clear, and is firm in the hilt. The fishskin
grip is in overall good condition, some wear. The grip wire is good
too. The steel scabbard is aged, with light (inert) rust and some
dings, but sound. The sword actually sheathes and draws quite well
for something of this age.
Well above and evocative example. Yours for £600. Please
