WW1 British Royal Garrison Artillery Named
Officer's Sword, for sale
In very good condition, the WW1 British Royal Garrison Artillery
officer's sword of Lieutenant G H Kemp.
The Royal Garrison Artillery were a division of the British Royal
Artillery that manned / used the heavy ordnance BL 9.2-inch howitzer
(the big guns) on the battlefields. Our provisional research shows
that G H Kemp made Lieutenant on the 23rd December, 1915.
The 33 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt.
The hilt generally very good. The leather grip is worn but sound;
the twisted grip wire bindings are also good. The leather field
service scabbard is good though aged and has some damage. The sword
sheathes and draws well. There is no maker's / retailer's name etched
to the ricasso.
A good honest sword designed for field use and with full provenance.
