Etched at the ricasso / forte to E Thurkle Maker, Soho, London, and with a rare adjacent badge logo for "A & N C S Ld London, Bombay Karachi" (Army and Navy Co-operative Society Ltd); this Thurkle made sword was sold through the Army & Navy London store (courtesy the fact it has a VR, not VRI, royal cypher to the hilt's cartouche.

The 32 3/4 inch blade is in very good condition, a few small patina patches but not many. Blade firm in the hilt. The steel hilt in good condition, a few minor scratches, etc. but nothing much. The fishskin grip overall very good but with a couple of scratches and the grip wire a little loose here and there, but again generally very good. The original sword know good but faded / aged. The plated steel scabbard in overall good condition (some age misting). The sword sheathes and draws loosely.

A great sword with scarce maker and retailer markings. A very good buy at £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference P66 (0262). Further / full sized images available upon request.
