WW2 Japanese Naval Officer's Kai Gunto, For
In very good overall condition, an unsigned WW2 Japanese Naval
Officer's Kai Gunto.
Unsigned with an anchor within a circle stamp means this kai gunto
came from the Toyokawa Naval Arsenal; yes, that means it has a milled
steel blade with etched hamon (it is not gendaito). This is a later
war kai gunto; plain tsuba, lacquered / painted saya / scabbard,
cloth (not rayskin) grip base. But, it is in very good condition
and has a very clear hamon.
The 24 5/8 inch Nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is in very
good condition, some small scuffs but no much / many. Overall the
sword is very good; very little age / wear. The sword sheathes and
draws well. What can we say? It is a good one!
A well above average example, and yours for just £1000. Please
