1796P British Heavy Cavalry Officer's Dress
In good condition, a scarce 1796 pattern Napoleonic Wars British
heavy cavalry officer's dress sword.
Not the sword he would have taken into battle or training (known
then as an "undress" sword), but the sword he would have
worn all other times. Similar to the general's sword of the same
era but without the "Pas
de Ane" rings (found just inside the guard).
The 32 1/8 inch blade, no apparent making left visible, is in good
condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt and wired grip all good,
though aged of course. There is no scabbard. Who knows which officer
once held this while charming the ladies after battle!
An iconic sword at a bargain price of just £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference O45. Further / full sized
pictures available upon request.
