WW1 era M1854 Dutch Cavalry
Officer's Sword, Sold |
Almost certainly WW1 era, a scarce M1854 Dutch Cavalry Officer's
Sword, in good condition.
The maker's mark is hidden by the leather washer, but it looks
like that of Clemen & Jung of Solingen (as many swords in Europe
were made, ironically, in Germany before the war). In any event,
this is a scarce sword.
The 30 1/2 inch blade is in good condition, some light pitting
/ patina towards the point. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt and
grip in good condition; no grip wire. Steel scabbard in good shape,
the sword sheathes and draws well.
Not many of these around, so grab it while you can (too late!).
Please quote item reference L47 (1212).
