1821 Pattern Georgian British Light Calvary
Officer's Sword, Sold |
In very good condition, a lovely Hamburger made 1821P light cavalry
officer's sword.
A lovely sword made by Hamburger & Co 30 King Street Covent
Garden London, a well know and respected 1821P maker, the etching
still very clear.
The almighty and impressive pipe backed 35 1/2 inch long blade,
etched with royal cypher for King William IV (1830-1837) and maker's
details, was once sharp and is still firm in the hilt. The wonderful
flared steel 3 bar hilt has some patina but is sound (later versions
of this sword the bars were closer to afford more hand protection
but do not look as good). The fishskin grip and associated twisted
grip wire bindings are good, some small wire strands slightly astray,
some wear but not too much. The steel scabbard with signs of wear
and a small kink is well patinated but still very solid. The sword
sheathes and draws very well.
What a beauty. Please quote item reference number G92. Further
/ full sized pictures available upon request. Box 984-1.18 (2.321)
