This sword has seen some service; the inner side of the heart shaped guard has been period removed (to stop it rubbing into the soldiers side / tunic). The blade has some very feint remnants of etching. This is clearly Potsdam made by courtesy of the grip turns, how they shallow towards the ferrules.

The 23 inch blade is in good condition, but has been over-cleaned (the etching has all but gone), and is firm in the hilt. The brass hilt is in good order, multiple regimental markings, worn engraving to pommel. The scabbard also has regimental markings and is in exceptionally good order for its age. The sword sheathes and draws well.

Rare sword. £500 is a bargain (just do a Google search for Prussian model 1715 infantry sabre). Please quote item reference AC08-N68. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0156-0.82 (1.336).

Please note, we are aware Potsdam also supplied this sword to Denmark as the Musketerkårde M1748, but the markings are Germanic, not Danish.
