Napoleonic British Light Cavalry Officer's Blue & Gilt Campaign Sabre

Sales enquiries

With a little blue and gilt etch remaining, this is a campaign (battle) sabre identified by its heavier than normal (for an officer) steel scabbard. Period sharpened and with nicks / slight damage to the cutting edge, who knows what this sabre has witnessed.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in good condition for its age, though with some age / pitting, a little blue and gilt etch remaining (not much), and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is good but with a light pitting / steady patina. The leather grip is aged with wear and very small sections of loss near the union with the backpiece & ferrule; the twisted grip wire bindings in good order. The steel scabbard with pitting and some period damage; this sabre has seen some arduous conditions for sure. The sword sheathes and draws well.

A really evocative and above average condition piece. Perfect for just £1000. Please quote item reference AB62. Further / full sized photos available upon request. Box 0114-1m (2.331)
