A Napoleonic British Light Cavalry Officer's Blue & Gilt Campaign
Sabre in good though aged condition.
With a little blue and gilt etch remaining, this is a campaign
(battle) sabre identified by its heavier than normal (for an officer)
steel scabbard. Period sharpened and with nicks / slight damage
to the cutting edge, who knows what this sabre has witnessed.
The 32 1/2 inch blade is in good condition for its age, though
with some age / pitting, a little blue and gilt etch remaining (not
much), and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is good but with a
light pitting / steady patina. The leather grip is aged with wear
and very small sections of loss near the union with the backpiece
& ferrule; the twisted grip wire bindings in good order. The
steel scabbard with pitting and some period damage; this sabre has
seen some arduous conditions for sure. The sword sheathes and draws
A really evocative and above average condition piece. Perfect
