Sales enquiries

A fairly rare sword as most generals wore mamelukes, so only their senior attendant support officer would wear this pattern. Etched to sword cutlers "H. Hill 3 Old Bond Street London" (they used this name at that address from 1850 to 1855).

The 32 inch blade is aged and with patina patches but firm in the hilt. The hilt has lost most of its gilt. The fishskin grip and associated grip wire bindings are aged but good. The folding guard section works. The leather and gilt metal fittings scabbard has leather split in two places (tape repairs). The sword sheathes and draws well enough.

Scarce sword, nice price; £450. Please quote item reference AB21 (0096). Further / full sized images available upon request.
