George V British Royal Navy Midshipman's Dirkimage AA37 1

Sold Item Notice

The etching and the grip with no royal cypher (only a British royal coat of arms / pre-Edward 8th) indicates this is a post WW1, circa 1930, RN officer's dirk. The etching is particularly good.

The 18 1/8 inch blade is well etched and in very good condition, plus firm in the hilt. The hilt generally very good, the faux fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings also both very good. The strong locking mechanism of the scabbard works well. The scabbard itself with obvious age. The dirk sheathes and draws well.

What a lovely example and only £xxx (too late, now sold - original sales price divulged for small fee). Please quote item reference number AA37 (0023). Further / full sized images upon request.
