1821 Patt Hawkes & Co British Heavy Cavalry
Officer's Sword (sold) |
An Edward 7th 1821P British heavy cavalry officer's sabre in very
good condition.
In exceptional condition, the 1821P is one of the most attractive
swords / sabres of the British army in my opinion anyway, so this
item is a superb show piece, and it is very rare to get this pattern
in such good condition.
Hawkes were known as a quality maker and it shows in this sabre.
The lovely 35 inch blade is well etched, with nothing more than
the tiniest of rust spots which can hardly be seen, and is firm
in the hilt. Equally, the steel hilt is in very good order. The
fishskin grip is good and the twisted grip wire bindings are all
present and correct. The sword sheathes very well into its leather
field scabbard which is also in good order. A very fine example.
Further / large images available upon request. My item reference
number 810 (338).
